Gondola Shelving 101
New to gondola shelving? Here's everything you need to know before you order β written by people who install this stuff every week.
What is gondola shelving?
Gondola shelving is the freestanding, double-sided modular shelving system you see in convenience stores, pharmacies, smoke shops, and grocery aisles. Each "run" is built from a starter section plus one or more add-on sections, capped with end caps.
Starters vs Add-Ons vs End Caps
- Starter section β has two full uprights. Always the first piece of a run.
- Add-on section β shares one upright with the previous section. Less expensive than starters. Use these to extend a run.
- End cap β short, single-sided unit that finishes the end of a run. High-visibility display real estate.
Black vs Platinum β what's the difference?
Color and finish. Black is the warehouse / smoke-shop / dispensary standard. Platinum (light gray) reads cleaner and works in pharmacy and boutique environments. Specs and dimensions are identical.
Lozier compatibility
Lozier is the industry-standard size. Our black and platinum gondola is Lozier-compatible β shelves, uprights, and base components interchange with Lozier-branded parts you may already have.
How to measure your space
Standard sections are 48" wide. Always allow a 2" buffer at the wall and at run ends. For islands, allow at least 48" between runs for ADA-compliant traffic flow.
